Base members,
The Base meeting for May is scheduled for this coming Wednesday the 21st. That evening the Memorial Day parade in Saratoga is being held and sponsored by the VFW. Our Base will be participating in the parade. The lineup is at 5:30 pm on North Broadway and the parade begins at 6:00 pm. Joining us in the parade will be USS Thomas Edison shipmates here in Saratoga for a boat reunion. Khaki pants, base shirts, parade jackets, and dark shoes. Let’s have a good turnout. After the parade (at about 8:00pm) we will meet back at Post 70 for a short Base meeting.
At the meeting you will have the opportunity to sign up for the Base Picnic to be held on August 2nd at Lanthier’s Grove in Latham. Those of you who attended last year or who have gone to other events there know what a great selection of food is available. The picnic portion of the event includes a raw clam bar, hot dogs, corn on the cob, clam chowder, wings, Italian sausage, spare ribs, a variety of salads, plus your beer and soda. The dinner menu gives you a choice of a lobster bake, grilled steak, barbecued chicken, or a clam steam. The prices for the event are as follows:
Lobster - $41.75
Steak - $36.00
Chicken - $35.00
Clam Steam - $35.00
Base members can deduct $5.00 from the price of there menu choice. All guests will pay full price. Deadline to sign up is the July 16th meeting. If you can’t make the meetings and wish to sign up send your check made out to Albany-Saratoga Base to:
