MINUTES OF MEETING

ALBANY-SARATOGA BASE, USSVI

Location: American Legion Post #1450, Halfmoon, NY

Meeting Date:  April 21, 2004

 WWII Sub Vets were asked to stand and be recognized. Walt Bydairk was applauded.

 Because of the late start to the meeting it was decided not to have the members stand and introduce themselves.

 The Base Secretary reported there was a quorum present.  The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived. 

 The Base Treasurer gave his report and reminded members that dues for 2004 are due. The bank balance for the Base at this time is: $2282.91.  A motion was made by Walt Barden and seconded by Frank Dorchak to approve the report.

 The storekeeper reported that an order would be placed shortly for golf shirts and garrison hats. Anyone wishing to order one should see her to place their order. She also reported that she and Chickie Barden would be selling 40th Anniversary patches in Groton at their 40th Anniversary party.   She also reported a balance of $47,617.92 in the convention account.

 Old Business

 Bob Ondek reported the spaghetti dinner was not as well attended as anticipated. This was attributed to lack of advertising and several other dinners taking place at the same time. The next dinner will be on Saturday May 22nd at Post 70 in Saratoga and the menu has been changed from Corned Beef to Roast Beef.

 Bob also reported that some money had been collected for the flag stands and that he had designed a certificate to be given to donors thanking them for their donations.  

 New Business

 CDR Singleman read a letter of thanks from Ed and Pat Luther for all the base has done for their family since the fire.

 Walt Bydairk presented a bill from the Saratoga City Center in the amount of $2950.00 for rental fee’s that was due. A motion to pay the bill was made by George Gasser and seconded by Fritz Feldhaus and passed by the membership.

 There being no further business, CDR Singleman led the base in the Creed of the USSVI and the meeting was adjourned.

 The next meeting will be on May 19, 2004. The regular meeting will start at 6:30 PM, which will be followed immediately by the convention meeting at the American Legion Post 1450 on Grooms Road, Halfmoon, NY.
