MINUTES OF MEETING

ALBANY-SARATOGA BASE, USSVI

 

Meeting Date:  June 21, 2004

 

WWII Sub Vets were asked to stand and be recognized. Ralph Folger and Walt Bydairk were applauded.

Base members stood and introduced themselves and the boats they served on.
 

The Base Secretary reported there was a quorum present.  The minutes of the previous months meeting had been either mailed or e-mailed to the members and therefore the reading of these minutes of was waived. A motion to accept the minutes as published was made by Walt Barden and seconded by Phil Beals. 

The Base Treasurer gave his report. The bank balance for the Base at this time is: $1873.91.  A motion was made by Walt Barden and seconded by Randy Stein to approve the report.

 The storekeeper reported that all the patches for the Convention had been ordered and should be delivered within. She also reported there was a delay with the golf shirts and she would be checking into it

 Old Business

 Bob Ondek thanked everyone who helped out at the roast beef dinner. He reported a profit of approximately $165.00.  He asked if the Base still wished to hold the third fundraiser scheduled for July 24th. The base members agreed that it should be held. It will be a chicken barbecue at the American Legion on West Ave. in Saratoga Springs.

 He also thanked all who marched in the Memorial Day parade and the Flag Day parade and reminded everyone that we have been invited to march in the July 4th parade in Pittsfield MA.

 New Business

 CDR Singleman reported that resumes of two candidates for the office of Easter Regional Director were omitted from the American Submariner magazine and copies of their resumes were sent by email and copies are available for those without email.

 He also advised that voting for National Officers and National by-law amendments can be done either on line or by paper ballot. He encouraged all base members to vote. He also advised that there will be a significant increase in National dues beginning in 2005.

 There being no further business, CDR Singleman led the base in the Creed of the USSVI and the meeting was adjourned.

 The next meeting will be on July 21, 2004. The regular meeting will start at 6:30 PM, which will be followed immediately by the convention meeting at the American Legion Post 1450 on Grooms Road, Halfmoon, NY.
